Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch

In Short Absolutely amazing. A dream wedding location with five-star service and the most memorable ambiance.

To Elaborate We were having a large destination wedding in Beaver, Creek and there are only so many venues that could accommodate over 200 guests. One of my first dates and earliest, favorite memories with my husband was when we were first dating - he invited me to ski with his friends over the New Year in Colorado and we took a break for burgers and bloody marys at this hotel - it blew me away from the first moment I saw it. It looks like a gorgeous, fancy, rustic log cabin and is located directly in front of the chair lift. There is nothing stuffy about it - everyone is there to have a great time.

One of the stresses of a destination wedding is making sure your guests are happy with their trip overall, but this hotel is so amazing I didn't worry too much! We got married the second to last weekend of ski season so The Ritz was able to give us such an incredible room block rate that 80% of our guests were able to stay in the same place which made our wedding so much more fun. Non-skiers loved doing the spa, the outdoor fire pits have live music and an amazing mountain atmosphere, and skiers have it made - they have ski-in, ski-out access. It made me feel so proud to host everyone in Beaver Creek knowing they would be so well taken care of and entertained at this property.

Jennifer Pomerantz was our point of contact and she was extremely attentive, and genuinely wanted to make us happy. We threw a good amount of specific questions and special requests her way and there was nothing she didn't try to accommodate.

We didn't love the choices for our menu tasting so we asked if they would do a menu from their new, enormous outdoor smoker and they did: Smoked Chicken and Pork. It was still fairly elegant and SO delicious.

The only cons are the ballroom is a ballroom... I didn't like their round tables and chairs, and we had to spend a lot on rental furniture, decor and uplighting to get it to a place where we felt like it was "ours." But with the right investment and choices, the room looks absolutely gorgeous. We also hosted an outdoor lunch on Sunday and were surprised by the bill - they counted more guests than I thought could have possibly attended, which left a little bit of a negative feeling, so be very clear about your budget for every single component of your wedding. I was so exhausted by Sunday and so happy with everything that I didn't have the energy to question it too much.

Overall, this wedding venue is a dream and we were beyond thrilled!

Gemini Event Planning

In Short Amazing and totally essential! We were so thrilled. Meg is a pro.

To Elaborate We planned a destination wedding in Beaver Creek while living in Boston and hired Meg Stepenak, owner of Gemini Event Planning, as our day of coordinator for the Welcome Party and Wedding Day. She was absolutely amazing. Our wedding had a lot of moving parts with weather, transportation and out of town guests, but Meg gave us total confidence and peace of mind that everything would be smooth and all of our guests would be taken care of. It allowed us to totally relax and enjoy the moment. She brought an incredible expertise and energy to the table, and she knew every one of our vendors on a first name basis making the logistics so much easier.

Finally, I've been up close and personal at a lot of weddings and knew I didn't want a planner who would have that stressful, bossy "WEDDING" vibe. I also could compare with the recent planners I've seen at sisters and friends weddings-- Meg went above and beyond for us, was chill, laid back and yet so on her game.

Vintage Magnolia

reviewer's rating ★★★★★

In Short Gorgeous, creative and versatile. I have a thing for flowers so if I'm being really honest, I'm don't think I was the easiest bride to work with... I had maybe too many ideas, but Vintage Magnolia went above and beyond to make our flowers so memorable. The end result was so stunning and I felt like it was just as important to them as it was to me to nail the look. Owner Caitlin Caldwell and her team were also so amazing about advising which flowers would give the most value- whether in lasting the longest versus wilting, smelling the best, and standing out the most. They're very connected to the wedding/events community in Beaver Creek so Caitlin was already friends with all of our other vendors, making logistics and coordination so much easier.

To Elaborate We had a long engagement and I love flowers a little too much so I ended up making a lot of changes to my ideas over the course of it. Caitlin was so patient and collaborative. She was willing to roll with new directions and chat through variations.

Our ceremony and cocktail hour were on a mountain deck at the top of a mountain, I wanted to keep it simple, rustic and beautiful- the mountain backdrop was decor enough. But Caitlin and her team knew just how to enhance it -- they created the most gorgeous birch arbor with white flowers and then small birch vases with shades of purple flowers for the high tops... They also got on a snowcat to deliver the flowers to the mountain peak.

For the reception, we were in a hotel ballroom which wasn't our ideal venue, so the flowers were hugely important to me. We decided on tons of mercury and votive candles, and all white flowers, on bud vases down farm tables and in silver vases that allowed the flowers to drape and hang over them. Caitlin also hung greenery over a chandelier that our decor vendor (Pink Monkey) built. It was soft, romantic and so memorable!

In Short Creative and followed through with my vision to a T.

To Elaborate We did not want to feel like we were getting married in a hotel ballroom - though we were. We worked with Melony Sebastian of Pink Monkey and she was phenomenal. She gave her opinions and was straightforward with her advice which helped me cut to decisions instead of second guessing myself. With just a few meetings and me sending her photo inspirations, she and the team gave us exactly what we were hoping for - a dramatic, rustic atmosphere that did not look like a ballroom. We were thrilled.
