Bride/Babe: Emily Southworth of Recycle and Barry's Bootcamp

Emily Southworth has enough muscle tone and arm definition to make Michelle Obama jealous. As one of Boston's top trainers, she leads high intensity, full body workouts in spinning, running and weight lifting at Recycle and Barry’s Bootcamp. I chatted with Emily in July about her approach to healthy wedding planning and even took her Brides & Bridesmaids Bootcamp at Recycle so I couldn't wait to see how this ultra fit bride's island wedding shaped up.

Dress by I got my Pronovias dress at Vows in Watertown and had a lot of alterations and bead work done by their seamstress, Anahit (who is amazing!). As a trainer, I thought it was only appropriate that I had a racerback dress.

Accessories bySwavorski crystal earrings (purchased at Frugal Fannies.. yes, Frugal Fannies. They have an incredible bridal jewelry selection and the prices are so good!) I borrowed a diamond bracelet from my mom and had an English rose in my hair.

Health secret Three things make me feel my best: exercising hard, eating well, and getting plenty of sleep! I made a conscious effort to eat really clean leading up to the wedding and was doing workouts that I enjoyed doing vs workouts that magazines tell you to do before you get married. It's easy to get caught up in articles that tell you "do this workout to look like Gisele, or that workout to get a ballerina body!" but at the end of the day, the best workout for you is the one that you love. I stuck to my regular routine of Recycle spin and Barry's Bootcamp classes, as well as adding in additional strength training. I felt great, physically and mentally- high intensity exercise classes are a great stress relief. I also highly recommend working out the morning of your wedding- you have so much pent up energy and there's a lot of sitting around and hanging out before the actual ceremony. It felt great to get a sweat in and have some time to myself before all the festivities.

Beauty secret I started getting regular facials at Elizabeth Grady about 8 months before the wedding, and that really helped to clear up my skin before the big day. In addition, I did these at home hydrating masks that made me look like Jason from Scream but worked really well! Also, we were in Bermuda for a few days prior to the wedding, I got to soak up some sun and relax on the beach. Vitamin D does a body good!

Bridal Style Classic, with a tropical twist. We wanted a formal wedding instead of a beach wedding. The ceremony was held in these beautiful old church ruins, our cocktail hour was on a boat, and our reception was at a hotel right on the beach. It was elegant, fun and very Bermuda!

Greatest moment of the night This is so tough! We had a destination wedding and a weekend full of fun events, it's hard to choose just one moment! Besides the actual ceremony and getting officially married, I would say my favorite moment was at the reception when I got up on stage with the band and played drums. I started playing drums when I was 9 years old, but always got stage fright and never played in front of anyone besides my family and drum teacher. My parents told the band in advance that I was a drummer and they wanted me to play at the reception. I was caught off guard when the singer pulled me on stage and told me to sit in for a song. I was incredibly nervous because I hadn't played in awhile, and I had never played in front of that many people! Most of my friends didn't even know that I could play! But the champagne helped me get over my nerves and I got up there and had SO much fun. It was crazy seeing everyone's reactions and hearing them cheer- I felt like a rock star. Although, it is NOT easy to play drums in a wedding dress!
