Bride/Babe: Kelly Plaisted

Kelly's family is one of those incredible, big families that makes you feel like you've known them forever - and they throw a party at any excuse. They could have thrown a wedding on a Tuesday morning and it would have been a great time, but what they hosted on a December day in Chatham was beyond. While Chatham is their hometown of choice during the summer, when Alex and Kelly got engaged it was hard to come by a summer date without waiting almost two years. This was ultimately the greatest blessing - they gathered a little less than 200 of their closest friends just a few weeks before Christmas to quite literally take over the entire seaside town. It was elegant, romantic, and cozy.... the kind of winter wedding that makes you look forward to winter. Here's what Kelly, a classic, timeless beauty was inspired by.

Dress byMy dress was by Amsale and purchased at L'Elite.  I absolutely loved it. It was so comfortable, simple but classic. I hope it's timeless enough to pass on to my daughter someday! Lina from L'elite was wonderful, so knowledgeable about all the dresses they had. Fastina, the seamstress there is incredible and so sweet! My advice is to go to as many trunk shows as possible because they will carry the entire line, rather just the few dresses the bridal shop chooses to buy. I would not have found my specific dress if I hadn't gone to the trunk show. Also, the Amsale saleswoman was great. She knew so much about the line: how the dresses were made, how to tailor them properly, what you can and cannot change, etc.

Shoes by Manolo Blahnik. I chose to go with 3-inch heels since I'm already tall and they were so comfortable! I could've danced another 3 hours in them! I've worn them since and it just reminds me of how amazing that day was!

Accessories by My grandmother lent me her monogrammed fur stole from the 60's! It was so beautiful and a perfect piece for a December wedding. My mom lent me her diamond and pearl earrings and my dad gave me a sweet sterling silver bracelet with a mermaid on it (a silly family joke and because I love the ocean).

Health secret Working out regularly always helps me clear my head, even if it's just a quick walk around the block. I love spinning at Recycle Studio, yoga at Back Bay Yoga, and running just a few miles along the esplanade. A little sweat always puts things back in perspective.

Beauty secret I drank lots of water! I tried not to stay out too late the night before, which is easier said than done.

Hair by Stacey Kuehn - she's amazing; my mom and bridesmaids loved her

Makeup by Kelley O'Keefe of Tryst Studio (in Hingham) - also amazing. I would go see her everyday at Tryst if I could! They have an awesome spa.

Bridal StyleI wanted to look back in 5 years and like the pictures so I went for a classic, timeless look.

Greatest moment(s) of the nightToo many to count! Doing a first look shoot was so great. It was really nice to see Alex and have a quiet moment before all the madness ensued. The speeches were also amazing. My dad, sister, and Alex's best man knocked it out of the park. Oh and watching my grandmother dance with the lead singer of Night Shift, the band, was hysterical!

Wedding date December 5, 2015

Wedding Venue Wequasset Resort & Golf Club, Chatham MA

Advice for brides-to-be Don't sweat the small stuff! Everything will work out. It's usually the silly little details that stress you out the most that guests don't even notice or save (ceremony programs, menus, place cards, save the dates).
