Bride/Babe: Ellie Hoffman

A backyard wedding takes on a different meaning with this one, from unexpected touches like a Ferris Bueller style getaway car to the sweetest gestures from the groom. Add that to the bride’s modern Monique Lhullier dress, tablescapes with bold blue ceramics, and of course a crazy happy couple, and this wedding was one for the books.

Bridal style Natural and classic.

Dress BY Monique Lhuillier. I bought it in the NYC boutique on the Upper East Side.  It was the first dress I tried on and I continued on to 4 other stores thinking there was no way it could be the first dress, but it was!  The staff there was amazing to us throughout the entire process.

Shoes by When it came to my wedding shoes, color and comfort were more of a priority for me than a designer label.  I really wanted a blue shoe and I wanted o be able to stay in them all night. I ended up finding a pair of suede wrap ankle heels made by Splendid that were a gorgeous lavender blue color.  I loved them!

Accessories by I wore my mothers pearl and diamond drop earrings, my husband gave me an aquamarine and diamond bracelet on the morning of our wedding that I wore and I had on a sapphire ring that his parents had given me that year that all of the women in his family wear.  I also carried a handkerchief that my great grandfather had given to my Mom on her wedding day.  My dress had pockets, so it was really fun to have it with me.

Health Secrets Nothing crazy - my biggest thing (and I used to hate when people would say this) is that I really just listened to my body.  If I wasn't really hungry come my typical lunch time, I would wait a couple hours, drink a big water and cut back on serving size.  That and consistency in workouts and eating / drinking I think in the last couple months leading up to the wedding were big for me.

Beauty Secrets My favorite product I used around the wedding was the Dr. Colbert Illumino Anti-Aging Brightening Mask.  One of my best friends recommended them and I did one each week in the month leading up to the wedding and absolutely loved it.

Hair and Makeup By The women that did my hair (Kristen Moshiek) and makeup (Jessica D'Amore) for the wedding have been used by many of my closest friends.  They both live close to Newport, RI and after one of my friends weddings, my Mom said she 100% wanted to hire them for my wedding one day because everyone looked so natural and beautiful.  I went to RI a month before the wedding with my Mom and we both did a trial, which was so fun. They are both so great to work with and I absolutely loved the way it all looked on the day of!  All my girls looked gorgeous!

Greatest moment(s) of the night My husband is very romantic and also happens to be a great singer and had many surprises planned for me on our wedding day.  When we were getting ready his sisters brought me into a room with a computer and speaker set up and left me in there alone with the photographer and videographer (poor guys had to deal with my tears).  I pressed play on the computer and all the sudden Robbie was on the screen with his guitar sitting in a recording studio.  It was a crazy rush of emotions right from there.  He sang Can't Help Falling In Love by Elvis Presley.  The main line "Take my hand, take my whole life too" had me in tears over and over again.  It was an incredibly special moment and I immediately opened the door to the other room and my Mom and all my bridesmaids were silently sitting there trying to listen and I had them all come in and we watched it all together again!  That was not all though.  After our first dance, the band announced that Robbie had another surprise.  He got up on stage in front of all our family and friends and sang I'll Be by Edwin McCain.  It was the first song he had ever sung to me when we first started dating, so it was pretty special for me.  We were both just on such a high the whole evening.

Wedding venue I grew up in the house right next door to where my Mom grew up. My parents reception was in the neighborhood so I always dreamed of doing the same.  Our neighborhood, which is pretty small, was absolutely incredible to us.  The house right across from us agreed to let us use their huge flat backyard for the reception. They had a great outdoor pool area that we were able to use for cocktail hour.  Another neighbor offered their house to my husbands parents so they were able to stay right on the street with us and all the guys got ready there just two houses down from the girls, which was really fun!  We are lucky to have such incredible and generous neighbors.

A few favorite vendors Kate's Table: catering located in Hingham - they knocked it out of the park.  I could go on and on about them.  Not only was the food insanely amazing, but they were by our sides for every little thing.  We couldn't stop talking about them after the wedding.  They did all three days: rehearsal dinner, wedding and goodbye breakfast.  Scott Zuehlke Photography - also located in Hingham - Scott made everything so easy.  We really wanted a photographer that we got along with and felt comfortable with.  Scott was exactly that and gives such great direction.  He got the shots and moved on to the next one, which I really appreciated.  I've been to so many weddings when the photographs take so long and you hardly see the couple. Mulberry and Elm: Wedding Invitations - Taylor Near is an absolute angel.  We worked with her throughout the entire wedding for every little thing.  Every invite that went out was done by Taylor, to the menu, rock escort cards, a custom crest, koozies, matches, etc.  She is an amazing artist and specializes in water color design and calligraphy and added such a unique and personal touch to our wedding.  She's so creative and was so patient with me when I wanted to change something.  She was truly amazing.

Advice for brides to be My biggest thing was just making sure I didn't get separated from Robbie too much at the reception.  It goes by so fast and the evening is all about the two of you, so the last thing I wanted to feel was that I asn't with him enough.  We were told so many times to really just take a step back from it all and soak it all in and we made sure to do that multiple times together.
